dumpling, hugs for you and Becky, I'm sorry she's having such a bad time atm.
TA I hope Mr TA gets his appetite back soon.
Still thinking about Hollie.
It's another depressingly grey, rainy day today - not the day to take the puplet for a walk but needs must. We had a good, dry one yesterday although she did decide to disappear into woodland for a while. The gps tracker she wears worked a treat and DH was able to find her, once she's on the scent of something she's oblivious to anything else.
DD and SiL were in Tokyo for "peak blossom" apparently and she posted some lovely photos on Instagram.0 -
Morning all,
Sorry to hear Becky is having a rough time Dumpling. I hope this hard time eases soon.
The Grandchildren slept well but was still awake at 6. I feel like half the day has gone already. They have been fed and bathed and I'm waiting for them to be picked up. Livewire is saving his chocolate egg but he's eaten everything else...tried to eat his baby sisters white chocolate buttons too. I say tried...
Beautiful weather here. Long May it continue!
I miss going to church...don't miss the people though. Maybe one day...
Onwards and forwards
Have a great day allThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Happy Easter to everyone,
I went to Church this morning, not far to travel as is just two doors up from my cottage. The ladies who do the flower arrangements had done a stunning job and the service was meaningful.
Have made some lentil and bacon soup and pottered about doing chores. Going to my youngest son and family later for a Roast Lamb dinner. I have just had an emergency call from him to say he had forgotten to get Rosemary and garlic for the stuffing, luckily I have both so the day is saved. Who would think he is a head Chef!!
Belated anniversary and birthday wishes to Judi and many congratulations to Scarlett Ribbons. My 2/12 year old grandson recently had a major meltdown because he couldn't breast feed his new baby sister! We didn't see that one coming.0 -
Trouble is, as someone else famously said ‘I can resist everything except temptation’.
It's only just dawned on me from reading the thread that it's Easter weekend - I really do lose track of time; and now with Mr LW retired, I don't even realise when it's a Bank Holiday. Thankfully, apart from Mr LW's foray to the monthly farmers market, which he has done, we don't need to go anywhere this weekend, as doubtless everywhere will be heaving.
Doglets have been out for a nice walk; we met several other dog-walkers along the route. Buddy is very good, and doesn't take a lot of notice of other dogs; Indi just wants to play with them all. But he's just a pup, so it's to be expected.
I have to make a quiche shortly, as Mr LW has brought the cream to do this. I do wish I actually liked cooking and baking - it's awful having to spend so much time doing an activity I detest, but there we are - I can't have us living on ready meals. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Happy Easter everyone.
I've hidden easter treats for DS to find but he is still in bed, I've done this since he was 3. One year, OH made little hanging cups from an egg box and put a cream egg in each but Harry tge Squirrel managed to snaffle one before we got all the way down the garden so for the last 23 years, it has been an indoor exercise. I didn't really bargain on still doing this for an adult but I wouldn't want to disappoint him. There are proper chocolate eggs too.
Later on, I'll be making a roast lamb dinner. I've made the mint sauce and peeled potatoes and I've some yorkshires in the freezer, we do like them with lamb.
It isn't raining, unlike yesterday when it just hissed and hissed down, but it is very chilly, I've had to put the heating on just now.
Dumpling I am sorry that Becky is still unwell.
Right, I'm off to find secondary socks.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Afternoon all and happy easter :EasterBun
Somewhat tardy today but not as a result of my usual laziness. Been tackling some of the mammoth to do list I set myself. Sounds strange but i'm really enjoying it its not often I venture into the deep dark depths of my cupboards and explore
Anyway done so far is my freezer inventory - both, my food tin and baking cupboard, my glass and bits and pieces cupboard ( I have enough various size and shape glasses to cater for a very large crowd but still could only bring myself to get rid of 2) the baking tin cupboard under the oven (yuk very manky) and my pan cupboard
after a quick break its on with the spice cupboard with willy wonka on in the background
I know how to live thats for sure
Will be starting a turkey dinner soon to eat later. I finally finished my Christmas turkey off last weekend so bought a good size crown to freeze some portions for my sunday dinners
Right on to the spice cupboard0 -
Wet and grey morning but at least it has stopped raining. Had porridge for breakfast and then fancied some boiled eggs and toast as a late lunch.
Positive vibes to Holly and I hope she gets home and is feeling better soon.
No idea what to make tonight but as I am on my own I might just have a low calorie ready meal and spend the afternoon with a book and put my feet up. The weather forecast suggests snow tonight and tomorrow morning but my favourite amateur forecaster who is very accurate has not mentioned it at all but does suggest snow on the 16th of this month.
DD and sil are planning to come over tomorrow morning for a late breakfast but if the weather is really bad they might have to put it off so I won't start any preps till I know what they are doing. I did not buy any Easter eggs as I am trying to eat sensibly so will have a chocolate fix with low calorie hot choc drink.
Hugs to all0 -
Message from The Blonde One, "the kids have been asleep for 2 hours".
Message from me to The Blonde One, "i can beat that, your Dads been asleep for 3 and a half".:rotfl:I have to make a quiche shortly, as Mr LW has brought the cream to do this. I share your pain! I hate cooking too and i wish i enjoyed it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Evening all, I hope everyone has had a happy and peaceful day.
Ours had been a bit chaotic and this is the first time today that I've been able to put my feet up.
Dad arrived, closely followed by DD and family for lunch and DD brought me a HM banana loaf, but I would have preferred and Easter Egg. ( or a chocolate cake, I think I'm turning into a chocoholic :EasterBun )
I believe everybody enjoyed themselves as there were no meltdowns or sulking, just lots of laughter and squealing . ( I've told Mr Fix It not to do the later because it's unnerving :rotfl:). The DGC enjoyed all the games but I think they had more enjoyment from the prizes in the lucky dip box.
The poor DW has certainly earned it's keep today, I'm sure I wouldn't have relished standing at the sink with that pile of dirty dishes .
Anyhow I'm going to make another coffee and just chill for the rest of the evening. Tomorrow is soon enough for hoovering the debris under the dinning room table.
Take care all and hugs all round. Extra hugs for Holly and Dumping and her family.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Happy Easter to those who celebrate,if not a Happy Sunday.
We've just finished our evening meal, steak, roasties ,peas and carrots, followed by sticky toffee pud -clean plates for all.
We had the dgc on Friday until lunchtime yesterday,so thats when our egg hunt took place.I made a treasure map with clues so much excitement ensued, some inside & some out.We didnt go mad with the eggs,I got mainly small ones but they enjoyed it
We have decided to decorate our front room so have been stripping wallpaper ,we got lots of paint samples yesterday and will go and get it tomorrow, and some paint for the kitchen too,it gets mucky due to a combo of DGC and dog .Time to relax now though...
Hope Holly does get home on Thursday-fingers crossed.
Dumpling, how worrying for you, hope B improves soon xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
