Old Style Daily Sunday 1st April

dumpling

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning everyone :hello:
Happy Easter :easter_ba and it's April Fool's Day too so watch out :rotfl:.
Pinch Punch the first of the month and no returns.
Right, now I have got all that out of my system I feel better. Alas, I was back to watching the clock change through the night due to worrying about stuff I can't change. Becky is not having a good time right now and is needing a lot of support, especially late at night when her hallucinations are at their worst. All I can do is give her lots of hugs and the occasional jaffa cake and wait with her until she is through the worst of it. It is exhausting for all of us. I am determined to keep her out of hospital though so I will do whatever it takes.
I made a roast dinner yesterday which turned out really nice and there was enough to dish up two extra plates full so that is what I am having today. I am already looking forward to it. I will make the rest of the turkey into a curry for the girls. I also have a great big pan of cabbage ready to be made into bubble and squeak so I will boil up some spuds to go with it at a bit more of a sociable hour.
An old friend got in touch yesterday after many months and we have arranged to meet up for a cup of tea and a catch up on Tuesday. I hope she brings her little girl as she is adorable and I have a knitted fairy with her name on it.
Well, I am off to make a cup of tea, hope you all have a great Easter day and eat lots of chocolate if that is your thing. Take care xx
P.S. JackieO, enjoy your ginger biscuits xxx0 -
Morning folks and thanks DUMPLING for the early - very early - start. I had a rubbish night too with the usual worrying and what ifs filling my head.
Not a lot planned for today but I must clean the fridge out at some point as it's been postponed long enough. The tall freezer in the garage is in serious need of defrosting too but it's too darned cold out there to even think about doing it!
No idea what we are eating today as Mr TA has been off it for a day or two and only up to light meals. It's easier just waiting to see what he feels up to eating when meal times approach rather than make a big dinner which will get left.
Have a lovely Easter Sunday and ((HUGS)) for all wanting/needing them. Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
dumpling - thanks for starting us off, both DH and myself have managed a rare lie-in.
We're both now enjoying first peaceful cuppas, boys still in their pits.
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light and overcast but damp underfoot with laying water in lots of places. Rain forecast again for today, we'll need a arc soon.
Dinner last night was pizza takeaway - was lovely and so much nicer and cheaper than the big brand pizza takeaways. Today we're having roast lamb and all the trimmings, will have to get going with the prep in a while.
DS1 and I listened to the boxing on the radio last night, was the right result but seemed very stop-start. Pleased we hadn't paid a lot of money for tickets though.
Yesterday I got done what was needed, so I'll just be chilling for today and tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all, it seems quite bright here , but cold. Yesterday was dreadful, it lashed down all day.
I realised I hadn't bought Easter eggs, so we went out for those. the shops were packed, but I got what I wanted , and came straight home. We were in for the rest of the day.
Don't know what's happening today, we might get out for a walk while we can, because i think tomorrow's forecast is dire. Will this winter never go away?
Sorry to hear that Becky is still not well, Dumpling, it must be so difficult for you to see your poor daughter suffering like that.
TA, I'm so familiar with the what if night time worrying, it's absolute murder. Sometimes I get up for a bit to distract myself, but the house is so cold in the middle of the night at the moment, I haven't done it for a while. Hope Mr TA picks up a bit.
Thank you all you lovely people for your congratulations on the birth of our grandson, you're a great bunch!!
There seems to be better news of Holly , it will be nice to see her posting again.
Hugs to those that need them, the poorly and the worried.
Take care folks.0 -
Good morning everyone, 2nd night running I slept through, had to get up pretty sharpish at 07:30 though, I do feel more rested so that is nice.
I have been battling to make flapjack that suits my needs/wants for months, ideally I need it to be less sweet than most recipes have lost my sweet tooth (no Easter chocolate for me) and crammed full of dried cranberries, seeds and nuts. Last week I tried a recipe from a "healthy" blog, but it just crumbled and was too dry and messy to eat. I found a recipe for Funky Flapjacks on BBC Good Food so crumbled last week's efforts, added the extra weight of oats and carried on with the recipe, adding extra butter and honey and syrup as per a reviewer, It was oozing butter (no problem for us as no weight problems or health) and after a night in the fridge it it yummy:j:j Only problem is that to repeat it I would need to make a batch of the crumbly one first:(:( The experiment will continue....
Happy Easter Sunday, hugs and spoons. Sun shining here:D
Dumpling thank you for starting us off best wishes for Becky's improved health. TA I do hope that Mr TA feels better soon. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Dumpling, hugs to all those in need.
It's not raining here yet but is forecast to start later, either way we have to move on.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all
Happy Easter and hope this shiny new month is good to you.
I had a lovely day yesterday, went for a swim with my cousin, there was a fab outdoor pool that was heated but it was mighty cold getting out!
Visited my uncle in his care home, very nice it is too. He doesn't know who we are but I think he enjoys the company. Stopped at a really good Asian restaurant on the way back and I'm still full.
I'm going to church with my Aunt in a while, not really my thing but it means a lot to her. I'm trying to avoid going in the car with her driving so I'll walk, said it would do me good!
Congratulations Scarlet Ribbons, hope all's well.
Have a great day, take care. Xx0 -
Good morning everyone.
It’s really bright outside and really cold, minus three at 7.00am. I’ve been really lazy so far today but will go for a wee walk along the canal, finishing at the coffee shop. I also want to spray some persistent growth in the front ‘garden’.
I am determined to reduce the two large piles of unread books this year before buying any more. Trouble is, as someone else famously said ‘I can resist everything except temptation’.
Happy Easter, happy Sunday and happy April to all.0 -
Morning all
Nice bright day here atm but rain due later and all day tomorrow I think, im actually quite glad its raining tomorrow as its my return to work and it will hopefully be a quiet day !
DD and boyf are back from Malta they had a lovely time but said the hotel staff were very rude ! They kept snapping at them when they asked for anything and just kept saying no !! There will be a bad review on trip advisor coming up !!
Im not sure what to do for dinner today I might do a roast or just do something easy, will have a think.
I want to get the pup out for a good long walk today, we took her yesterday to a local nature reserve in the woods and overlooking wetlands and she loved it, she ran round like a loon and slept all night with her legs in the air and a silly grin on her face
Right better get on have good days all and Happy Easter :icotbaske0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one
Happy Easter to you all.
Its a very dull morning here, we have just got up after our normal Sunday brekkie......OH expressed a desire to go to Chapel, so to Chapel we will go!! No idea what has brought this on, we have not been for years except to the carol service at Christmas.
Roast shoulder of lamb for supper tonight, roast spuds etc. I made an apple and blackberry crumble yesterday so thats dessert sorted.0
