    I tried opening a case tonight but didn't get very far as it kept talking about printing a postage label so I got a callback from eBay who have washed their hands of it since it's over their 30 day money back guarantee.

    Just download the label and then tell eBay they won't take it.

    I bought some car headlights which were defective, but when repackaged in the original box it was a couple of CM too big for Royal Mail to take full stop.

    I contacted eBay and they said the seller should provide an alternative shipping label, they never did and I got a refund.
    Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.

    Actually I've just realised you are within the 30 days guarantee for ebay!

    The 30 days starts when item is delivered, so if it was delivered on 20/4/18 you have plenty of time. Also, the bit about printing off a label suggests that the SNAD claim was successful and the label was being supplied by ebay, so you might want to check that as well.

    I have got a bit confused though so to be clearer if you don't have a SNAD claim open , then get one open on ebay now - if it doesn't work use the delivery confirmation to explain to ebay that you are within the time limit for a claim.

    Keep phoning ebay or using live chat until such time that you get someone who understands their time limits. The 'hook' to use is the wrong plug angle, keep on at them about that as that is not legal in the UK.
    That's fab thanks, I'll give it a go

    A further quick update. I opened the SNAD and the seller initially messaged then ignored me when I asked for the plug to be replaced. I escalated on Monday and eBay said I had to give them 5 further days to arrange collection and I could call them back Saturday if the seller didn't get in touch. The person I spoke to wasn't keen to refund me and wanted me to wait a few more days until I offered to let him listen to the recording from Monday (I prewarn that I'm recording calls for my records) and they then confirmed the case was closed in my favour and they'll be refunding in full.

    About 90 seconds after I got off the phone to eBay I got a message from the seller saying that I'd not been in touch but as a goodwill gesture they were offering £25 of a refund. I'm taking a leaf out of their book and not answering until the money is back on my card !!!55357;!!!56846;

    Thank you so much for your advice, if I hadn't had it I wouldn't have opened a case so it's muchly appreciated.
