UK Parking Not giving up

Hi
My wife received a parking charge notice from UK Parking Control on 22/12/2017 for not parking correctly in the marked bays, this was in a car park which is free for 1 or 2 hours which is I suppose irrelevant but just to give you the information.
I've had similar parking charge notices before and have ignored them and have never been chased, I told my wife to ignore this and possibly thats the wrong decision?
They have obviously contacted DVLA and DRP have now sent a letter asking for £160 stating this is our last chance for an easier more affordable way to pay.
If we don't pay then they will 'pass my our to our client with a recommendation that they take further action against us'
To be honest my initial response was I'll just pay it, but having read through the posts on here I'm tempted to stand my ground but have I messed up by ignoring the letters and should I now send them a letter?
There is a lot of reference to post #4 in the newbie section but I havent located this as yet and reading through this section I've read that we are advised to send a letter to the parking company.
Appreciate any advice offered, wife is a little annoyed with me and I don't really fancy a £160 fine
Thanks

your wife is correct and you are wayyyyyy out of touch
please read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread , its about the third thread down from the top of this forum
the PPC has 6 years to take you to court
there will be no "fine" , its a civil matter , and they have sent an INVOICE (only you are calling it a fine, nobody else is)
as you ignored it back then , its too late to do anything about it now, apart from complain to the landowner and try and get it cancelled
come back if you receive a formal LBC or an MCOL in the post
IGNORE the debt collector letters0 -
AFAIK, there isn't a firm called UK Parking so please edit your thread title, confuses people!
Don't even go there. To be honest my initial response was I'll just pay it,
Yes you messed up, could have easily won this at POPLA, assuming it was in England/Wales. Too late now, so ignore debt letters. Just come back if UKPC try a small claim, we do win them almost every time and you risk nothing, even a person who strangely lost, would pay no more than the region of £160 anyway! No CCJ, nowt bad, no repercussions.but having read through the posts on here I'm tempted to stand my ground but have I messed up by ignoring the letters and should I now send them a letter?
Just DO NOT ignore a LBCCC (from SCS Law, probably) or a court claim! Might not happen anyway.
My signature under every post I make, tells every newbie where to click...no need to 'locate' anything; you are always 2 clicks away from the NEWBIES thread. See below. How come people don't notice?

Apologies, the creditor is UK Parking Control Ltd (not sure how to edit thread title)
So I've screwed up and should have responded, I can't see the land owner will care its just a Matalan carpark and yes in England.
To clarify the advice is to carry on ignoring the letters and only pay if I receive a letter from MCOL asking me to attend court and by taking this stance I do not risk a CCJ.
Is this letter a letter before action or would they need to write again stating they are taking legal action?
The letters are well written, good enough to make you think about paying
Thanks0 -
you need to read up on court procedures
an LBC comes from UKPC or their solicitors and you follow post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread to counter this
an MCOL comes from a government office in Northampton (a bit like the DVLA in Swansea) - this is a court claim and that same post #2 deals with this too
at this stage no court or judge has been allocated
if it gets as far as court its your local county court (nearest to you)
if you lost in this court (or ignored the MCOL) then a CCJ would happen and you have one calendar month to pay it before it becomes "live)
so if you lose, pay up in full, promptly ,to make sure you do NOT get a CCJ0 -
Well I imagine (assumption) that as I have not taken the correct procedure so far that UKPC will more than likely take the court route but we'll see, if I get a letter summoning me to court I'd probably pay up as its hassle taking a day of and attending court, presuming the £160 doesnt increase I'll sit tight
Many thanks for the advice0 -
its not a "summons" as this is a civil matter , not a criminal matter
there will be no "summons"
google MCOL and read up on it , its the online method of civil court claims, that were on paper back in 1973 when that law was enacted (the small claims court)
there is no "fine" and no "summons" , its a civil dispute between parties that is resolved in civil court if it gets that far, a bit like RINDER on tv but without all the theatrics
a typical loss is between £100 and £200 , say £1750 -
Retail car parks cancel UKPC PCNs all the time! Certainly complain. Especially when the car park was heaving, just 3 days before Christmas, and presumably the driver/family spent money in shops there.
Google the retail park and find out the managing agents who run it, and RANT at them. You do realise this entire industry is (according to MPs last month) an 'outrageous scam' of bloodsuckers?
Why is your wife annoyed with YOU? I'm a wife and I would be annoyed with this bunch:

Nasty. You need to show your wife the Parliamentary debate on the industry, open your eyes!

Thanks, I'm hoping they just send these letters trying to scare people (which obviously works) and a percentage of people just pay then they forget about the ones who dont pay0
-
the debt collectors (DRP etc) wont "forget" about anything , they work on a no win , no fee system , so they will chase the debt until the 6 years has passed or they get sacked or told to cancel by the parking company
so expect mither until 2024
ITS WHAT THEY DO !!0 -

Well no, but you know that already, from the NEWBIES thread, how often UKPC sue people.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
