"Updated" dates

Can anyone explain why all the credit cards on my Experian/CreditExpert report are shown as updated on the 4th of the month, and all the current accounts on the 18th, whereas accounts on my Equifax report have apparently random dates?

  • It depends when the CRAs get updated.

I'd kind of guessed that much

I'm puzzled as to why, on Experian, all five of my credit cards (all from different banks) are updated on the same date, and my six current accounts likewise, but not on Equifax. I'm rather expecting the answer to be simply "these two CRAs operate differently".

Are you getting reports direct? I've recently joined credit expert. My accounts were all updated on the 4th as you said. That's a pain because I made a payment on the 6th which I want to show. I bought a £2 statutory report from Equifax and the payment is showing there.

Last time I bought an Experian statutory report I had to wait for a code in the post. I cant be bothered doing that, so I haven't bothered sending away for one.

I'm working under the assumption that it is a quirk in how credit expert gets info from Experian and a direct report would be different.

Yes I'm looking at Credit Expert, not at a £2 report. I'd be somewhat aggrieved to discover lenders are seeing more up-to-date data than I'm seeing on Credit Expert.

I'm not worried. I'm considering applying for a mortgage. I've also just paid a big chunk off a credit card. I want to make sure the CRAs will show the reduced balance if I apply for a decision in principle.

If the mortgage provider has a problem with it, just show them your most recent statement with the amount paid off.

They’re fully aware that credit reports are not accurate to the second.

I've been told if the data I give and that they get from the CRAs doesn't match I'll be rejected then I'll need to appeal and produce evidence. I'd rather wait to make sure it is updated and goes through the first time.
