Do you make mistakes at work?

Do you make mistakes at work? I went to a meeting and I am responsible for bringing the paperwork but I did not bring enough packs for everyone so some people had to share. I felt awful.

I work at NASA, they don't let me near the Shuttles anymore. Jez, a couple of wrong buttons pressed and they don't stop banging on about it.

Anybody who claims they have never made a mistake at work is either being less than truthful, or never actually does any work. The important thing about mistakes is to learn from them.
From this incident it's clear that you didn't know how many sets of papers you needed. For the future it's something you need to check in advance. No big deal and certainly nothing to beat yourself up over.

Were you informed of the number attending the meeting, did more attend than expected?
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.

Yes but I've only killed about 150 people because of it.
  • I think it's appropriate at this time of year to remind you that the last person who never made a mistake got nailed to a cross.

Pretty big mistake in getting caught, plus a big mistake in believing in some supernatural being.

Do I make mistakes, heck yes.
Do I try pretty hard not to make the same mistake a second time - heck squared yes.

    I'm still employed.
Besides which, sharing is not usually fatal but can trigger new & productive insights.

Enjoy this respite from work & plan to get better info next time?

This is what offering to do minutes after meetings are for!

Should have found a solution or see positives to your non-starter of a mistake.

An often cross FD (at me mostly) in a hotel I worked at least said this early days of my work life "Those who don't make mistakes, are those who do nothing" 2001 time.
