Defaults just dropped off - question

Hi all,

I previously had 3 defaults, two of which have dropped off my credit report (Experian today) - the other last month.

They were dated 31/03/2012 so I was pretty impressed that my Experian credit report reflected these changes as soon as exactly 6 years later.

I went to look at taking out a loan and balance transfer credit card, as I need both - my current credit card and car finance have really poor rates and my soft credit search showed up nothing that wasn't available to me prior to the defaults dropping off which was majorly disappointing.

No other significant credit report issues, no CCJs, no late payments, no bankruptcy - the main negative is in January I took out car finance and got rejected 2 or 3 times before being accepted at a really poor rate.

I am hoping that it is because the other main agencies (which I don't pay subscription for) haven't updated their records?

Anyone else had experience with this issue?

Secondly I need to get a financial association with my ex wife broken and links to the address we lived in (over 6 years ago now) removed as I wonder if they are having an adverse impact on my credit score. Do I need to write to all main credit agencies separately to get the links to ex-wife and previous (older than 6 years) address removed?

You can't get address links removed as you are linked to them, that's the point.

What appears on each of your credit files?

Ignore the made up credit scores. They can be as adverse as you want. Only the data matters.

If you are financially associated and want to disassociate, you need to write to all three CRAs.

There is no such thing as a credit score, it's a made up number only you see

If you are struggling, why are you paying to see this fictitious number? I'll give you my rank - 3 digestives and a bourbon - for free. Immediately applying for finance is silly until you have checked Noddle and Equifax (both free) and ensuring they are up to date. Maybe give it a few months and keep up to date on payments then apply for one thing only, probably a BT card with someone like Barclaycard or Cap One

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
