Have you applied for Council Tax reduction?
Is it Income-based ESA or C-B based?
If you have applied for CTr and are receiving IB-ESA that is definitely incorrect.
Are they aware of your circumstances, benefits, savings, and income?
Give them a ring on Tuesday to update them - then follow up with all the proof of income etc
Are you getting the 25% single discount?Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -

Give the council a call and check if the have your details and a new demand notice is being readied.
The generation of the new year demand notice will likely have crossed with you moving in but the way that many councils generate them means that it won't pick up any changes made during March (the 'start of year' requires so many notices that they don't like to interfere with it). What would usually be the case is that any changes that have been made would generate another demand notice to be issued - usually at the beginning of April time.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Remember you have to claim any housing benefit and council tax separately directly through the council. Same for the 25% single person discount. If you haven't done this that would explain the bill. Maybe look online at your council website as to how you claim it? You might even be able to apply online or at least apply to have the correct form sent to you. Be prepared to provide evidence of your benefit and rental agreement (if you rent, I guess other documents if you've purchased the place).0

The Council Tax Department and the Benefits Department are normally separate.
They can't award you benefit until you are registered for Council Tax.
You have probably been registered and correctly billed.
But then the Benefits Department need to award you benefit and a revised bill will be issued.I enjoy flower arranging, kittens, devil worship, the study of serial killers and their methods and road kill jigsaws.0
