You thought that you had signed up with NPower ........

So you thought that you were a NPower or SSE customer..... read on.

The Big 6 may become the Big 4 with one supplier bigger than the others.

Last week, E.On announced that it was acquiring RWE’s subsidiary Innogy SE. In return, RWE gets 17% of E.oN.

NPower is owned by Innogy SE, and the NPower business will now transfer to E.oN.

To complicate matters further, NPower had already announced plans to merge with SSE: this merger is the subject of a Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) Review. The CMA has now started a separate ‘conversation’ with E.oN.

The need to merger is being blamed on a ‘difficult UK market; price regulation and the UK’s smart metering programme’.

A week ago, NPower reported a loss of £56M: down from a £90M loss in the previous year. It also announced a loss of 155,000 customers in March following recent price rises.
