Insurance Claim for Cancelled Holiday - Would Booking Another Invalidate My Claim?

Hi,
We recently cancelled a holiday with First Choice (departing 15th March) due to my gran being what we thought was end of life, as we needed to be here in case anything happened. My partner has travel insurance for us both through his bank who told us we could claim our money back for this scenario (we are just waiting on the return of medical forms by her doctor). She is still with us and seems to be in better spirits since leaving hospital with a suspected stroke, she really was not well at all, but it's really only a matter of time due to her old age (she is bed bound and needs 24 hour care). My family are currently looking after her at my mums.
I was hoping to book another holiday for the beginning of May (annual leave is sparse so this would really be my only opportunity to go!). We've all agreed life is for living and she wants us to go away, she has a lot of family looking after her so she would be in good hands. In her current state we all think she may hang on for a while yet. What I am anxious to know is could re-booking another holiday before we've claimed for the cancelled one invalidate our claim in any way?
