A little bit of an update: Something has clicked recently and I've realised what I'd like my life to be like - one without clutter or a job I don't enjoy sucking up all my time. To that end, I've been listing a lot of items on ebay (some have been sitting on my side for years waiting for me to sell them) and if they aren't sold soon, they're getting chucked/donated. I'm also in the process of setting up my own business so one day I can quit my job and work from home. Currently only selling to friends but I hope to have an etsy shop up and running by the end of the month (need to take some decent photos first).
I hope all you lovely people can keep me motivated. I've been very lazy recently and anything that isn't essential has been put in the "do later" pile, sometimes for months on end so I need to stop wasting time and just get things done
So far, £50 bonus from work for working bank holiday. Lots of things with watchers on ebay and several orders from friends though I won't count their money until it's in my account.
Welcome back:wave:. I wondered where you'd got to. I suppose that's the way of virtual 'friends' though, they tend to drift in and out of our lives.
I know just what you mean about the '''do later'' pile and it being there for months:eek:. I could have written that bit myself:o. I've also had to give myself more than an occasional ticking off especially when I've eventually got round to making the effort and have sold something for a decent price. Each time I ask myself why I didn't do it sooner. Better to have the money than stuff gathering dust;)
I hope your dreams come true and you do well in your new business so you can quit your job.:beer:0 -
Welcome to old and new members. It is lovely seeing you all.
some amazing targets met and smashed last month. Well done to you all.
:beer::j:T:money:
I am sat here with a cupboard full of junk that needs selling and shifting. A room with a corner of stuff that needs sorting. Some to go to charity shop, some to be sold.
And a pile of paperwork that needs sorting, filing, shredding etc.
it is far too easy to procrastinate, especially for me. To make a do list. Because I have notebooks and pens... but to actually follow through any of it......
so I think we all need to give ourselves a virtual kick and try and make one small target daily.
I say only one as then you start feeling stressed and pressurised when you have a massive long list of things you want to achieve.
Your one item might be to upload your receipt to all the receipt apps that will take it.
That in itself is an achievement and means you are one baby step closer to cashing out at some point.
Your one item might be to list something on ebay/selling page/etsy/mumsnet/musicmagpie etc. ( ok music magpie is a silly one as you need multiple items to make it worth your while.)
Your one item might be to play that free game where you could potentially win money.
Your one item might be to enter a competition, particularly if low entry and see if you win.
The lists are endless. The rewards are many.
I had to rush around yesterday and today cleaning and tidying for an estate agent to come and value the house. He told my Landlord he would be here an hour- hour and a half. He was here 5 minutes!
I really could have done with a rest yesterday and today. It was a long weekend for me and now I will have no time to rest or relax.
BUT looking around at how clean and tidy the house is, I wish it would always look like this. If it did, I wouldn't be rushing around tidying all the time. The cleaning still needs to be done.
we have no storage and furniture in the wrong places. Which means I have bags of paperwork and things everywhere. I tried to buy baskets to try and tidy things up, but it means more cleaning....:rotfl:
So don't despair and give up. This is a long haul thing best undertaken with baby steps. xx0 -
So I did some procrastinating because I am so good at it.
Then I remembered a conversation I had with my husband. I asked if he knew where I could buy a grip to punch holes in my card. I explained I had a lot of loyalty cards but no proper holder for them. They were always getting left at home or lost in my bag.
He said just use a hole punch. So I grabbed my bag and found a whole load of key chain fobs. So I took off the old ones, found some are for stores I no longer used, so binned them. Decided to be OCD and make them all face the same way in size order. Put on the new ones and tidied them all up.
I went through my bag and started hole punching my loyalty cards. By accident I put a hold through my DS' GAME gift card....:o It is still usable... I think.
After doing that and disposing of the old cards and bits and bobs, I did 2 slice the pie reviews. I am now at $7.56 not far to go to pay out.
What are you all doing today?0 -
question, anyone do the kantar broadband and tv monitor? is it intrusive? is it worth it?0

Did some overtime yesterday, not sure how much it works out at after tax so I'll say £100 to be on the safe side. If only there was overtime available more I'd be more than happy to do it!

Off to a slow start (but decided to be kind to myself and accept that at least I've made a start)
SunSavers - £5
I have all my loyalty cards on a keyring too Aesop along with a trolley coin and find it one of the best things I did.
My job for tomorrow is to investigate "Shoppix" as for some reason it's not allowing me to upload receipts.
Just a little reminder
At McDonalds it's "Monopoly" season so keep an eye out for any stray tokens they could be for food/drink/offers - DS came home with a NOW TV pass - turns out its worth 3 months so we were well impressed.Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

thanks for the reminder about monopoly season.
I had a trolley coin, somehow DS has managed to lose it. I will get all my cards put onto a keyring. When I find a spare one. we always have loads in this house.
You are not the first one to complain about shoppix. others have said it keeps stating receipts are blurry when they are not.0 -
Evening folks :hello:
Don't know if anyone missed me but my laptop stalled last week and, with Easter getting in the way, just managed to get back online.
I have bitten the bullet and bought a new Chrome-book and just managed to get it sorted enough to get back to you all. Gosh, really missed being here and joining in all the chat for a whole week, so really pleased to be back :j
I will catch up with all your comings and goings and do the list of Challengers tomorrow.
Hope you all having a great week and not too much rain or snow

Thanks everyone for the warm return and I'm glad to be back. Procrastination can be a terrible thing. I need to remind myself doing a little is better than doing nothing and in most cases the thought of having to do something looming over me is far worse than getting off my bum and doing it.Money made on etsy in April: £0

Aesop you have been busy today!
So my wife started her new job today. Cut her maternity leave short by 2 months, but she's doing something she now enjoys (hopefully!). Her last job caused her so much stress, and had her depressed all the time. I still believe she was bullied, and forced out of her original role, and wish now that I'd talked her into taking it further. When she went back after maternity leave the first time, I wish she'd have pushed for redundancy. Instead they stuck her in a completely different job role, whilst giving her original job to a different member of staff. She's now at a very old-school type company, but doing what she originally started out doing, and hopefully it'll do her the world of good.
Quiet day at work today with it being half term, so I managed to get a bit more done online than I would've otherwise been able to do on a regular Tuesday.
