Hey guys,
Have an 8gb memory. Extended today with 8gb SD card. Internal memory full bar 300 mb. But.....still getting annoying icon saying 'not enough storage'. 8gb SD is recognised by phone and installed correctly.Tried countless YouTube vids etc but can't get anything to transfer to SD or get rid of annoying message about storage!
Have an old Samsung s3 mini, 4.1.2 I think. Getting conflicting info online, some forums saying data can't be moved on this version of Android.
Any experts care to advise? Don't really want to delete my apps asball used a lot????!
Confused.com.....any help would be fab!

Android phones have a limited system partition where you can install apps, and a FAT32 (I think) partition that gets mounted as the internal SD card (for your personal files).
There are two workarounds for this. The first (and best) is to repartition your internal storage. You can reduce the "internal SD card" space and use the extra space for apps. I used this guide to repartition my Galaxy S2:

Alternatively, you could use Apps2SD to create a secondary system partition on your real SD card. You can then move apps (even ones that are currently "unmoveable") to the 2nd partition.

Hj....thanks for reply. Managed to root my phone but app mentioned above STILL doesn't work. The 1st option is way to confusing....but THANKS SO MUCH for posting it. Managed to copy video/pictures to SD card and delete original folder.....freeing up nearly a gig. Read on many forums that android & especially Samsung at 4.1 won't let you move spps, etc to SD. going to have to make to or get s newer phone. Thanks all...much appreciated.0

I have an S3 Mini and can move many (but not all) apps to the SD card using the standard app control panel. Mine is running Android version 4.4.2. 8GB seems very small for an SD card nowadays when 32GB cards are under a tenner.0

No worries. Partitioning the phone can be tricky (and risky if you mess if up).
Apps2SD looks really complicated because there are so many options. I remember it took a while to figure it out myself. IIRC, all you need to do is select these two options:
1. Partition the SD card. (Create an ext4 partition for system apps & a FAT32 partition for personal files you can access via USB.) N.B. This will wipe the SD card!
2. Create the mount script
After that, you can view the app list in Apps2SD and move/link individual apps.
There are four(?) different options when creating the mount script. I found the "alternative method" worked best on my Galaxy S2.
Don't know if that helps...0 -
:beer:Hi! Just to update.....completely struggled to re partition line. Just not techie enough! Somehow with an app I forgot the name of I managed to move photo gallery to SD card. Also changed launcher to No a. Not urber fast is old after all, but now 3gb RAM. phone WON'T move apps, brings up a blunt message saying 'not possible on this phone'.
Phone is deffo faster. Hope this helps someone & ta for the help & advice!0
