E.ON Reps Malc/Helena - Submit Meter Readings

I just wondered if you have the ability to actually see what the smart meter is supposed to have read the meter at? Although I am not with EON I do have serious concerns about smart meters & if I do decide to go that route I would like to be sure I can access what numbers they have.

I never thought to look before! If the meter readings on my updated bill matched the readings I provided I was happy.

As an E.ON customer with a smart meter I currently have no access from the main "My Account" webpage to any meter readings after their latest website update.

The only way I can currently access meter readings either to provide a manual meter reading or to be able to view the meter reading history is via the link I provided in post #5.

Very surprisingly there is absolutely no meter reading history shown for any readings being provided automatically by the smart meter. In my case I have been providing a manual meter reading on the last day of every month and all those are listed.

I think E.ON need to have a serious rethink about the consequences of their recent website update and explain why no smart meter readings are being shown in the meter reading history.

The fact is a lot of customers already have a deep held mistrust of energy suppliers in general and of SMETS1 smart meters in particular. I'm not saying that applies to E.ON but you know what I'm getting at. ;)

Those customers who do want to enter readings more frequently will still want to be able to continue to do so and those that don't probably never will any way.

As it's an automated process from the customer entering a meter reading to you producing an updated bill I can see no reason for the change as nothing is gained.

Understand where you're coming from youravinalarrrf. All good points and I've reported each one. Thank you for this input. It's really useful feedback.

With your online account youravinalarrrf, readings used for billing and those you've entered separately are shown in the meter reading history section. Readings automatically provided by smart meters don't currently appear on this history unless, as I say, they were used to raise a bill. They're held in our usage history that we use to help us gauge how much energy we think might be needed for the property going forward.

    Hope this explains.

It does explain it but as I'm sure you will appreciate that it's not exactly in the spirit of openness and honesty when E.ON deliberately choose to hide the smart meter readings away so the customer can't see the automatic readings being provided by their smart meter.

The biggest problem is that following your recent website update E.ON's smart meter customers have been left with no access to meter readings of any description unless they use the link I provided in post #5.

I think it's time they just accepted that they've made a big mistake with this update and put it right. ;)

Hello youravinalarrrf and just to let you and others know. We've changed our website so customers with smart meters can again enter their own readings online. A panel has been added to the My Account section when logged in that takes you to the relevant page. The change went live this afternoon.

The panel explains that smart meters automatically give us readings so customers don't have to but adds they can still do so if they wish.

Many thanks for your feedback. It has been very helpful in having this facility turned back on. If you're unsure about anything, please let me know.

    Have a good weekend.
