First Direct international payments being sent next working day

Anyone else found that standard international payments setup over phone (£4 fee) or online (free) to EU are being sent next working day ?
They introduced new system around September last year.
Since then international payments seem to go out next working day.
Foreign services advisors say it is because payments are scheduled/queued in batches for currency & currency cut-off times, but I don't think they really know.
They say they now have no influence over sending payments as they are now automatically queued & sent by system.
Not sure that makes sense and explains delay when you have arranged the payment in the morning and it is sent next working day.
Anyone else had this or got an explanation ?
