Installed a new printer/scanner, Epson XP-324 and am having problems using it's "scan to email", been told by Epson tech that this problem is due to Microsoft and not the printer and need to contact Microsoft, something to do with them not allowing certain sizes in the body, it will send OK as an attachment but means scanning and saving then sending as an attachment.
Microsoft say they don't support Windows Live Mail 2012
Scan to email from scanner using Windows live mail 2012, email will not allow document to be sent, getting error: -
Delete the photo email, create a new one and try to send it again.
Server: 'smtp.gmail.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8CCCD03F
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 465
Secure(SSL): Yes
The scanned document, (Word), goes to the body of the email, not as an attachment.
Is there a way round this?

Why don't you try another email programme - one that is currently supported - and see if that works?0

It does look like a Microsoft problem as I can send attachments using Google Mail and Yahoo, I have both of these forwarded to Live Mail which I find OK to use being a technophobe.
Not sure if I would be happy attempting another mail client that allows mail from others to be forwarded, which would mean moving/saving etc all my email folders.
It does look like Windows has stopped support from January 2017, although I have been using it OK until I installed this new printer on Wednesday, (coincidence?), https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/18614/windows-essentials
I was hoping there is still a fix for this problem, failing that I will have to use Google Mail or Yahoo.

If the problem is the email client i.e. Live Mail why not leave your emails is and instead use Thunderbird as the client? It's both free and good. I use Thunderbird and my email supplier is gmail.0

Have just installed Thunderbird but there seems no way to import my emails from Live Mail, i.e. there is no tool icon, import/tools icon and no way to install via add ons.

Just set up a Thunderbird account with your email account details. All your emails will sync through - assuming you've been using IMAP rather than POP on Live Mail, which any sane person would0

Not sure if I set up as you describe, but my default email with Live Mail is Google and a lot of Google emails are showing in Thunderbird, not sure what these are but maybe emails to and from people that I have not put into Folders.
Outgoing Server on Thunderbird is showing as : - smtp.gmail.com (Default)
The Sever setting is: POP Mail Server.
So maybe I haven't explained properly, I want all of my folders from Live Mail,( Local, Outbox, Sent and named folders etc), to go into Thunderbird, but as per my OP there is now way to do it.

search google. It gives a way to copy folders from live mail 2912 to Thunderbird.0

derrick did you ever solve this?
In general terms your experience reflects the real problems almost everyone had when they found they had to find another email client after Microsoft's withdrawal of support of Windows Live Mail 2012. You can still use it "Live" if you dare but I have found that very serious corruptions of folders can occur if you do.
I still have an important dormant instance of Windows Live Mail 2012 on my W10 machine that contains archived mails and local folders as at a snapshot date a couple of years ago. I have it backed up on another drive also because everytime Microsoft has a major W10 update it will effectively stop access to any existing Windows Live Mail folders and will hide, or worse it will overwrite, a new folder called windows.old at each major update.
However in your case I am not suggesting you needed to do anything of the sort because it sounds like you only use a GMail address?
If so, you can indeed simply set up Thunderbird using your GMail credentials, and everything you can see via a GMail App or via GMail in a browser, should be viewable in Thunderbird. GMail naturally defaults to a variant of the IMAP protocol others have mentioned - it doesn't offer POP3 access.
You sound aware that you could set up your own folders within GMail? If that's what you meant, they should all be accessible.
The sorts of folders that are not easily accessible without a fair bit of technical nous are those you may have set up as Windows Live Mail 2012 Local Folders i.e. outside your actual live email account folders but nevertheless also inside Windows Live Mail 2012. I have found the latter too bothersome to try in any depth, but I have to tell you I did indeed eventually take the advice of others on here a couple of years ago and start using Thunderbird as my main email client.0
