Hi,
We have booked to go to Edinburgh for 3 nights just after Easter (2 adults and 2 kids) and want to know what are the best things to do cheaply or free and are there any vouchers available anywhere?
So far we are planning to go to the National Museum and Camera Obscura...
What do you recommend? :j
Thanks
MJ

Hi
If it is a nice day climb to the top of Arthur's Seat (behind the Palace of Holyrood House) there is a road you can follow part of the way up then it is a gentle climb to the top. Take a picnic and enjoy the views from the top.
There is also Calton Hill (not far from the east end of Princes Street) it has a partly finished acropolis as well as other monuments. Also great views over the city. Although should be avoided after dark.
Could also look at the museum of childhood and the Peoples Story museum both on the Royal Mile and I think are still free.
Have a great time0 -
Camera obscura is very good but pricey.
As above, museum of childhood is free and is excellent.
Climbed Arthur's seat last time we were there. Great views from the top.
The ghost tours are good fun too - free but they will ask for donations.0 -
I live in Edinburgh. There are quite a lot of offers/vouchers that might be useful to you on Itison - https://www.itison.com/Edinburgh
Also seen stuff for Edinburgh on Groupon and Wowcher.Feb 2008, 20year lifetime tracker with "Sproggit and Sylvester"... 0.14% + base for 2 years, then 0.99% + base for life of mortgage...base was 5.5% in 2008...but not for long. Credit to my mortgage broker0 -
You can go on some great Ghost Walks in Edinburgh for next to nothing. They aren't too scary and quite funny.0

You can have a look around this Edinburgh portal page - old but a lot of it's still relevant:
