British Gas Smart Monitor Red Light

I came home from holiday to find my smart monitor had a red light implying we were using lots of energy. Nothing was on except the fridge.
I re-booted the thing and it still showed red the next day so I gave them a call.

The woman I spoke to said there was a known problem with the software having the decimal point in the wrong place and it wouldn't affect the actual bill.

Two weeks later, it's still red. Anyone else heard of this? It sounds a bit unlikely.

The IHD does nothing put show you your usage. As long as your meter readings are within the norm, you can ignore it.

Mine has a paddy every now and then (not a BG IHD).

This is what happens when you make something smart and introduce software. You get software bugs.

The monitor is just a display of information sent from your smart meter. You display maybe interpreting that data incorrectly.

I would start noting down the reading directly from the smart meter and work out what it is recording yourself.

That way you have evidence and confirmation of what the actual meter is recording. Take a picture of it using your smartphone each day. From that you can confirm your daily use in kwh.
