Confused.com!!! Ref: Modifications

Wanting to get things absolute correct on confused.com website.
Car has a aftermarket stereo unit, that's it, no woofers or bigger or changed speakers, just changed to a slightly better unit.
On confused, when you click modification, it only gives mention to interior change, no mention to audio equipment. Even got confused to phone me, could not answer, put me through to one of the insurers, never got a clear yes or no.
Anyone, aftermarket stereo, is that a nod or not on confused?
Thanks.

I think what you need to do is use confused.com without the mod to sleect a handful of insurers that a cheap for your postcode, age etc.
and then check each one individually via their websites which may have better choices.0 -
I don't think that's normally counted as a modification. I'd get a quote without modifications and then talk to whichever insurer you pick, get them to confirm they're happy and add it as a note to your policy.0

Yep aftermarket stereos need to be declared.
Often cover will vary for that, There maybe limit value cover for non standard equipment.

I have a bunch of non-performance mods to one car and I run it through the comparison sites, but I don't declare modifications at that stage. Mostly I've found that non-performance modifications aren't a big issue, but I talk to the insurers and declare them when taking out the policy. The response varies from Admiral saying I have to declare everything that's non-standard to Aviva saying they don't count them as modifications, but they will note them on the policy.
I don't recall them ever adding to the premium.0 -

That may work, but it's never good advice to risk an insurer having a case for miss-representation of a risk.Save £12k in 2019 -0 -

That's why "I talk to the insurers and declare them when taking out the policy." Is that not clear?
They can't claim misrepresentation, as I tell them what modifications I have and let them choose whether to accept them and whether they affect the quote.0
