I need ro replace my suspension arm ball joint dust cover offside front as it is deteriorated so is preventing the ingress of dirt.

I am being quoted £119 for the work.

Anyone got any suggestions please ?

  • The work needs to be done if you want an MOT, so you either buy the part and do it yourself if you are able, or you pay a garage to do it, or scrap the car.

Don't know what sort of suggestions you are hoping for.

Does anyone sell a dust cover (boot) seperate, I would guess they are going to replace the ball joint (they come with a cover) I would replace the ball joint anyway, you have no idea how long it has been damaged and how much water / dirt has got in.
"deteriorated so is preventing the ingress of dirt."
The description above leads me to believe it is an MOT failure, if that is the case will they carry out a free retest?
Otherwise shop around for a better price
    Good luck

It needs doing but it could be £30/£40 cheaper.

    I'll anticipate OP's next question - how?
    Cheaper garage? DIY?

Its a £30 part for a whole arm with no more than an hour's labour.
