    Honestly I think the OP needs the 'shock factor'

    Worried they are 35k in debt. Worried to consolidate in case they run up more debt. Changing unsecured debt to secured debt. Not making ends meet each month, and have defaults.

    But its the tatty carpets that are affecting the mental health, so lets make that 35k into 37k to sort the carpets.
