Hi
This is my first thread, it took me a while to find it!
Just wanted to know if anyone has been contacted by this company Consumer Law Barristers,
we have and they have offered to help us to become debt free in a 12 month period. We are currently with a debt management company which will take ages to be debt free.
The thing is they are asking for £120 a month to assist us with the process, they have requested a full payment upfront but have not sent us agreement letter yet although I have asked for it.
Your thoughts would be of interest?

My thoughts:
- Any company that has to tout you for business is best blocked.
- Is this a covert attempt at advertising?
- Other than that, it might be worth moving this to the consumer / debt boardsValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

If this is not a covert advert.
Do not use them, you will not be debt free in 12 months but they will get £1440 out of you, what debts could you apply that to?, someone who has debts should not be paying for help.
You could do payment plans for free, contact your creditors, give them an income and expenditure and agree a payment that you can afford to pay.
There are debt charities, other agencies and this site that could help you for free.0 -
It's obvious this company is out to get your money. Never pay for debt advice! Don't engage with them, never engage with any company that cold calls you - it's dangerous.

The aim is to find non-profit debt counselling help. In other words, a one-to-one session with someone paid to help you, not to make money out of you. Be careful not to confuse this with free help many commercial companies say they are free as you're not charged directly, but you'll still pay somehow."Minimalist

Why on earth would you consider paying for this. That £120 a month that isn't going towards clearing the debts. Never use any company that charges you to run a debt management plan.
The majority, if not all posters on here would be advising you don't sign anything with them. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is! Stick to the debt management plan - and if that is with a company that charges get it changed ASAP£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120 -
