Hi there we have always rented my parents always rented and I am the first in my family to mortgage. I am doing this with my long term partner who also has same issue of no one to turn to for advice.
Its been a long and tiresome journey for me as ive spent the last 4 years trying to convince my partner mortgage is the way to go. She sees it as debt rather than investment and there is nothing I could do to change that until now. I recently convinced her to view new home and new development built not that far away from where we are and where she is comfortable to move and it was a success her eyes opened up with the idea of having her own space her own garden and back garden completely sold the idea.
Now my next mission is to get into the Nitty Gritty of cost. We both live comfortable and are both fully employed and we have been accepted in principle for the mortgage of the house we were looking at, We can also get substantial deposit within next 2 years my problem is, When we are accepted for the mortgage in principle the price we were giving and the mortgage we could get are the same. Telling me the financial adviser and sales person are working together to get the most out me as possible. Alarm bells are ringing and I will almost certainly get 2nd advice from another Financial adviser. Another issue I have is where should I start what should I look out for and what shouldn't I do Ie rush into things.. Thx a lot guys..
Ps am from Scotland.
