Why aren’t LISAs widely available yet? I’m waiting for big names, such as Halifax, to provide them. I’ve heard that there are mis-selling concerns.

It's a complicated product that is expensive to administer and was launched at short notice.
Still if, for your situation, the upsides are greater than the downsides then it's still worth doing.
