Dual Fuel Supplier Benefits
Options
I know that taking both Gas and Electric from one supplier is generally not considered a good option for the customer but what are the benefits for the supplier?
I would have thought that reading both meters at one visit would have been one but that doesn't seem to happen (at least with Flow)

The only benefit is that they are selling more energy which after all is the reason why energy suppliers exist. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Agree but the bottom line is that they want to make money and one way you do that is to minimise costs. Why send two meter readers when one can do ?
I am of the old school - an ex-supply industry engineer - and fail to see the sense in having lots of different meter readers in my street when one used to do the lot. Let alone meter installersNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I've been with two small suppliers for over a year now ,and I'm not aware of any meter reader visits for either gas or leccy. As far as I'm aware, the last visit was May 2016 when both supplies were with EON, when both meters were read.0

That could well be because the 2 yearly meter reading requirement was dropped by Ofgem in April 2016. A meter reading now has to be obtained once per year but the rules are non prescriptive; ie, a customer reading will no doubt meet the requirement. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
