Hi there, we hope to go over from Dover in November, coming back in the spring. Is it better to pre-book, if so who with. I have been told to get a day return as it is often cheaper than a single or a return.
This is my first time crossing the chanel so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you book a day return and don't return on the same day then the ferry operator will charge you full economic fare............it's in all of their terms and conditions. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
How high/long/wide is your camper? Its important0

As chuckles1066 pointed out, the ferry operators got wise to the day return thing a long time ago.
If you've got enough in Tesco clubcard vouchers, the Eurotunnel is usually my favourite way of crossing as it's quick and not dependent on the weather. Other than that, I'd look at Seafrance, P&O and Norfolk Line - especially the latter has good deals on from time to time, especially if you don't mind going to Dunkirk.
With the car and ferry my preferred company would be Speedferries but I don't think you'll get a camper van on there.
As you're staying quite a while, it may be worth checking if two single tickets work out cheaper (they probably don't, though).0 -
Thanks for that, it is 5.3m long and 2.8m hightheWilliams wrote: »How high/long/wide is your camper? Its important0 -
