Advice - Moving to Burnham, Bucks

Hi Everyone,

My partner and I are looking to buy our first home in Burnham. We currently live and work in London and therefore need to be within walking distance to the station for our commute to work. This obviously narrows down our options and we have been viewing properties primarily in Cippenham and the area to the North West of the station.

We've heard bad things about Britwell so have avoided the area. Is the area around Burnham Park/Priory Road far enough away from Britwell?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I work near Burnham and have friends in Taplow. I was looking at a studio in Britwell and asked an estate agent friend about the area - she said it's been regenerated over the past few years and more people are buying there. Burnham is a really handy area to be in what with trains to London and future Crossrail. Close to places like Eton, Dorney, Windsor, Maidenhead, Cookham, Slough. Burnham village centre has everything you need and a nice villagey feel. I've noticed the prices go up a lot in the past year as I've been looking but can only afford a studio if I was to sell my house in the West Country.
I think Priory Rd must near the Priory Estate - have never been but driven past the signs for it on the way to a Taplow.

    I'm from round there :)

I would avoid the Priory Estate and Britwell. Burnham and Taplow are good areas.
Cippenham is also good and depending where abouts you are its not a long walk to Burnham train station

I used to live in Chalvey, the armpit of Slough closely rivalled by Cippenham & Britwell. If you want to know what the area is like, watch Police Interceptors much of which is around that area. On the bright side, we never had to pay for garden lighting as the police helicopter often hovered above providing that for free.

Luckily I was able to escape to Twyford (super place with semi-fast train but perhaps a bit pricey for FTB).

If I were the OP I would follow the mantra of buying the smallest place in the best area rather than a bigger place in the worst. As previous posters have mentioned there are some decent areas around.

I think you are confusing two different TV programmes, it was Road Wars that was set in the Thames Valley and hasn't been around for several years.

My son moved to Burnham a couple of years ago, had his car broken into on the first night.
