Toilet brands - recommendations?

So we are having a renovation work done including replacing our entire old main bathroom and and small downstairs toilet - Want to go for well known brands in terms of toilets, but for the downstairs toilet, we don't want anything too flash so a close coupled toilet is what we're leaning towards - Any recommendations as to what brands and model to go for? Want something that's going to be reliable in terms of the internals and good quality overall without going over £300 or so?

For the main bathroom upstairs, we were thinking of having a wall hung toilet - but the only thing with this is what if something goes wrong in the cistern - would this then involve a nightmare job in accessing whatever is faulty? Also any recommendations as to any particular brands or models to go for - willing to spend a fair bit more on this toilet upstairs.

Thanks!

Just to answer your question about wall hung toilets.

You choose a system that has an accessible front - so a Grohe or Geberit frame with a large flush plate. The flush plate removes and the internals are all accessible and replaceable from the front. The frame for that alone is going to cost more than your downstairs loo.

We're doing something similar at the moment, looking to replace upstairs bathroom toilet and basin (with a vanity unit), and also replace downstairs cloakroom toilet and basin.

Opposite to you though, I want the downstairs loo to be a substantial good quality traditional one, upstairs we are much more limited in what we can choose as it has to have a minimal projection, so it will need to be a more modern design.

I've just ordered the downstairs - went for a traditional (but slimline) Burlington, which seems to be a well-regarded make, and found it discounted online.

And I've been looking at that RAK model WC and similar for upstairs, so like you have been looking for reviews - a little mixed for RAK but it seems to be a well-established brand, and the rimless is different. I also need a full access one though (I think) as don't want to change the plumbing/tiling and there's not enough space for back-to-the-wall.

I thought I'd chosen a free-standing vanity unit from Victoria Plum - but have been put off by the reviews as though it looks nice, I don't want one that won't last...

I'm still deciding on the RAK, have you ordered it?

Yeah we have ordered it, should come end of this week! Hopefully made the right decision, it does have geberit cistern though so hopefully no worries on that front
