Problems with my 'new' car

I bought a new (17 plate) ford edge from a dealer a month ago, the whole experience was bad from the start and maybe that should have been my clue. - Salesman was terrible and really poor customer service ended up being offered the least amount of trade in for my vehicle (had been to 3 other garages) but this was the best car we had found had loads of extras on and seemed good value for moneyed didn't get anything off the 'new' car so paid the full price 28k. of which i have privately financed half of it after the trade in.
Since taking it home i have had issues with the boot i can press the button to close it will go down but not click close and sometimes will go back up, front passenger door sticks. It was annoying but didn't think too much of it until i had to get the AA out yesterday as it turns out the boot hadn't shut properly friday so had left the light on all weekend and drained the battery, and I couldn't get into the car. He got me sorted but had a look at the boot and he thought that it showed signs of being in an accident and being repaired. - I have done the HPI check and its clean but it was owned by the garage so I assume if it had been in an accident they have 'fixed' it. my question is can i get them to take the car back or do i have to put up with it? SORRY for the long post, any help appreciated.

    You can outright reject within the first month, after that you have to give them the opportunity to repair it.

    Really? As when my partner spoke to them today they wanted it back to inspect it? 30 days?

    Whilst they are entitled to at least inspect it, clearly they can't just take your word that a fault exists, you have the right within 30 days to reject it outright for a full refund, bear in mind though the onus will be on you to prove that an inherent fault exists. This is your statutory right as described in the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

    As this is a new car and the issue does sound like it's one that can run and run if it was me I'd be looking to reject it, especially if it did indeed have previous crash damage.

    What sort of finance do you have? You may be able to make a Section 75 claim.

    Or, as it's normally referred to... Used. It's been registered between 6 and 12 months.

    Which side of 30 days is this "month"?

    Trivial adjustments required, potentially just a bit of light lubrication.


    You have a 30 day absolute right of rejection for faults, but... they do need to be actual faults. Outside of 30 days, the dealer has a right of repair.

    Lubrication would not help - the bolts have moved and you can clearly see the boot move to the side when in goes down. There is a wide gap when the boot is down on the right hand side (drop a spanner through) no gap on the left.
    crease on side of boot you can see the rivet dimples and on left are not so clear have had a 'paint' job over, crease in back door pillar that is not in other side.
