After finding out Santander block their app on rooted devices, thinking of other banks for our main joint account.
Club Lloyd's account, any good?
Can I choose different options each year (IE, cinema one year, magazine the next?)?
Not really interested in First Direct as they might be good with customer service but their accounts are a bit boring.

Yes with the Club account you can choose different options but only at renewal time - one chance per year.0

Hmm.
Might have to find something to hide root and see if that does the trick.
Shame the interest isn't slightly more.
I think their yearly offers will be worth more to us than Santander' extra percent as the account doesn't max out the £20k by a long way.
Just a shame though as I have a special savings account with Santander to pull in (Direct Debit) from my Halifax account to get the £3 a month there, so probably won't be able to be rid of Santander all together.0 -
I am sure you have considered this, but you really **really** shouldn't be running a banking app on a rooted phone for security reasons. I think you will find most (if not all) banking apps will check if your phone has been rooted or modified and if so will not run.
You can, of course, still login via the phone's browser.0 -
Hi
I have considered it. But is there any PROOF a customised rom, or even the standard rom has security issues? No.
Most people who comment about how insecure rooting phones is, don't understand why people do it or what security it REALLY affects.0 -

If you don't understand why a rooted phone is potentially a security threat to banking apps then you really shouldn't be using rooted devices until you read up on it.
The banking apps are designed and tested to run securely on a non rooted device.
If you root your device you are now able to access the root directory of the banking app and the files within it, you are also able to give this access to other apps running on your device. The banking apps havn't been designed or tested with this access in place so this has to be considered a security issue.0 -
Lloyds/HBOS accounts viewed via a web browser on a mobile device have similar functionality, look and feel as that offered by their app.0
