Loans.co.uk

A couple of years ago, I enquired about a personal loan from Loans.co.uk. As it happened, I didn't bother taking it out, but in recent months I've been plagued with marketing calls from loan companies.Today I received a letter from Loans.co.uk which stated:-"We recently learned that information relating to you may have been among certain data sold to third party loan companies without Loan.co.uk's permission. !!!!! I was absolutely furious, as I'm ex-directory and told them so, and only gave my number for a call-back, making it clear I was ex-directory.Turns out a member of staff sold on data, and has been found out - but the damage has been done. They are even advising me to check my credit report, even though they are 'certain' the data wasn't used for anything other than marketing purposes.I'm so angry - just wondering whether to go to a Solicitor about it. They say the Information Commissioner is investigating it, but I've no faith in Loans.co.uk any more.Just a warning to you all - and any advice would be much appreciated.

Having looked at other forums and myself receiving a letter from Loans.co.uk telling me my details have been sold to a third party illegally. Can we claim compensation??
I receive about ten calls a day from International numbers saying your loan has been accepted in principle and asking for more details from myself, although they already have a large amount of details about me, telephone number, mobile number, mortgage details, date of birth, spouses details.
What can be done??0 -
I too am being plagued with calls from International numbers, trying to get me to take out loans. I'm very angry about whats happened, and worried about who's got my personal details and what they are being used for.I have legal cover with my insurance, and plan to ring the helpline for some advice on what to do next.Having looked at other forums and myself receiving a letter from Loans.co.uk telling me my details have been sold to a third party illegally. I've had EXACTLY the same letter in the post today!!!!!!!!!!!
I too applied to them for a loan but like you didn't go ahead with it.
In the last day I've had a call from a company calling themselves "crocodile", saying they could help me out!!
I'm absolutely disgusted by this and intend to write a letter of complaint asking for compensation.
If we all get on their case and threaten bad publicity etc we may just get a result?0 -
I had the same letter from them last week. Wonder how many people are affected by this?
