Euro car parks fine

Hi new here
I went into M&S today for no longer than 15 minutes. When I went to the till because I’d spent over £5 he took my car park ticket and reimbursed me the £1 I paid for parking. He then just give me a normal receipt for the food and I have nothing to prove I paid the £1 then when I got to my car with a paper fine on the window saying parking charge notice. I have to pay £100 or £40 if paid within two weeks. The man who was just walking round in an M&S uniform taking pictures of cars just laughed and said have a nice day when I was trying to tell him I had paid for the car park. Do I just pay the £40, contest it and send them my receipt or ignore it all together? Just seems so unfair but at least it give him something to do !!!128545; any help would be appreciated I’m only young and don’t fancy going to court

You don't pay then contest it won't work, the parking firms just want money!
What happened when you went back to M&S and confronted the manager M&S can't afford bad publicity with their poor sales at the moment?
Don't take no for an answer, this is obviously M&S self ticketing, they are supporting scammers.
Are you sure the payment slip wasn't two part, with a piece you leave in the car and another you take with you?
Have you read the newbies thread, if not start there and realise it's not a fine?
Surely the receipt showed the £1 knocked off for parking?
This is your odds of going to court with these dingbats:

Edit your post to remove information about who did what. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper who are two different people.
It is not a fine.
Complain to both the store manager and the CEO about this scam. Take back the items you bought and demand a refund when you do your in-store complaint, stating you can't afford the additional £40/£100 to shop there. Be polite but kick up a stink.
Other shops are available.
If this isn't cancelled, then appeal using the template you will find in the NEWBIES thread. This is the thread that asks you to read it before you start a new thread.
Please also complain to your MP.
These are some of the comments made by the MPs in Parliament concerning the unregulated parking industry (Feb 2018):

''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.
These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.
Show the above to the store manger/CEO as well.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
As it's a windscreen PCN, just appeal using the template on day 26 (see NEWBIES thread).daanielleew wrote: »Hi new here
