touchpad button not always working

Hi,
I have a Dell laptop and the left button on the touchpad will not work when I try and turn my sound on/off, it seems ok when I use it for other things.
I have tried to use an air duster on it but cannot seem to get under enough.
Has anyone any suggestions, please?

And now I have the joy of having my foster granddaughter becoming my real granddaughter. Can't ask for anything better

As of today 180919. my granddaughter is now my official granddaughter, adoption finally granted

you have not stated the model of your laptop?
However I suggest you visit the manufacturers web site and download and install the latest touchpad drivers and see if that helps0 -

I have checked for an update on the driver and it is the most up to date one,Treat other's how you like to be treated.

the touchpad driver got released and updated yesterday - it is already installed?
EDIT: the web site says it was modified yesterday, but clicking on links this comes up

Release Date: 17 Jan 2018
I would download the new driver for the touchpad, then uninstall the old one and reinstall with the new one.
There are also 3 other 'urgent' security issues listed on Dells site for your laptop, one being sound drivers which you indirectly having problems with, also bios and Intel Management0 -
Thank you, I will do another check as I have done another scan today and the result was everything was ok.
