Moving an electricity cabinet in the hall

The missus wants to see if we can move the small cabinet in our hall containing all of the electrical gear - big thick cable coming up from the floor, meter, junction box, consumer unit etc). It would need to be moved from one wall, near a corner, to the the other wall near the same corner. (not too far but difficult to describe). Obviously the cables would all need to reach this new point. The idea is to allow more usable room in the hall.
I'm not sure if it's worth the cost/hassle.
Who could/should do this work? Any idea of cost?
(We are with IRESA for gas and electricity. They recently contacted me offering a smart meter but as it was SMETS1 I said no).
Thanks.

Only your supplier can move the meter. For the rest of it ( consumer unit etc. ) you'd need a qualified electrician. Some useful information here : https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/energy/energy-supply/your-energy-meter/move-your-gas-or-electricity-meter/0
