Suggestions for Garden Furnitures

Options
Hi,

Would like to get some suggestions for garden furniture. We have a new patio area in our house which was recently built and were not sure what to buy in terms of furniture.

We are confused between the following:
1. Sofa Set
2. Dining Table /Chair set
3. Swing Seat

Any idea which works best for a family of 4? with two young kids?

Also we live in Aberdeen , so want something which works all year long taking into account North East weather.

Regards,
Vijay

I'd go for (2). It's the most versatile. Get decent quality stuff and invest in really good covers for it. If you can bring it inside or into a shed/garage in the winter months, all the better.

It depends what you want to use it for. We have two young children and opted for a picnic bench but it was the wrong choice - we don't often sit and eat outside and a bench is too much faff to climb into for it to be a place you'd sit down for a quick chat, plus it's not really a comfortable place to sit back and relax. A dining set wouldn't have the faff factor but it's more about eating, less about socialising I think - is that what you want?

We swapped ours for a sofa and two chairs plus a coffee table and that's much better. When we eat outside, we use the coffee table - it's not something we'd do inside but we have the dining room for formal dining and outside is a place to be a bit messy!

I'd probably not go for a swing seat as the main seating in the garden, as it's not something everybody can use at once.
