Can you please share the relevant regulation, I think the consensus here before has been that you can't dispute the amount of a transaction that you agreed to with Chip & PIN.
I appreciate that the OP has likely been a little negligent but it doesn't excuse someone cheating him/her so any means to hold them accountable would be good.0 -
It isn't about regulation it's about network chargeback rights. This can be charged back. PIN entry no longer occurs with the final amount on screen in many countries.
This needs to be banned by the networks but it hasn't been. PIN is supposed to be cardholder verification not amount verification.
Chargeback as fraud is what MBNA should be pursuing. The second receipt and torn receipt as evidence.0 -
That's what I'm asking for - the relevant card scheme regulation setting out this chargeback right instead of unsourced statements saying "it's not covered", "no it is covered!"0

For Mastercard it's reason code 4834, the receipt with the correct amount can be used as evidence.0

Iv'e never seen a machine that doesn't show me what I'm entering a pin for and would never use one even in this country.
Now go to Budapest, take a taxi and not bother to see what you are putting a pin in for, madness.
Not blaming the op, once bitten and all that but it will be hard to win this one. £228 for a taxi isn't uncommon, people see sights and have taxis ferry them round to do it all the time so it's not exactly a rare and not exactly extortionate.0 -

I've seen this in the UK too. The old design of PayPal Here card reader doesn't have a display. You just enter your PIN into it.0
