Missed 6 month ppi deadline with Santander!

5 yrs ago I tried to claim back PPI from my Santander mortgage. Never heard anything from them and forgot about it. I wrote to them again a few months ago to enquiry about this again, to be told they had responded to my original enquiry . (correspondence I didn’t receive) offering me £2000, seen as though I never received this letter l never claimed it. Santander are now saying that as I didn’t respond to the Ietter which I didn’t receive I am now not entitled to it as there is a 6 month deadline. Does anyone know how I can claim this money? Thanks

Might be worth asking the ombudsman about it, worth a shot if the bank said they would refund and then withdrew but if you are out of time then they can't really do anything if the bank rejects attempts to look at it again

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

It's worth asking the FOS, and raise a case if they agree to do it. If the bank upheld your claim and sent you a response and they didn't follow it up or simply can not prove that you received the letter something can be done.0

Unfortunately it's the other way round on post, YOU have to prove you DIDN'T get it (e.g. a wrong address on file) - a first class letter is deemed delivered 2 days after posting (hence why free proof of posting is all you need when sending a complaint).
The bank did send a response - they offered a refund which OP needed to contact them about. They don't have to keep following up to avoid being able to withdraw an offer
The FOS cannot override correctly applied time barsSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
