Need urgent help for under under 35 exception rule

So, in 2013 I was admitted to a homeless hostel and then up until 2017 I was in a homeless shelter.
Because of this, I was able to receive the under 35 exception for the housing benefit 1 bed rate for a flat at £654. I have been lioving in said private flat for 1 year.
I just received a letter from housing benefit stating from April 1st my allowance is 80.50 a week, which doesn't even come close to the rate I was receiving. I haven't had a chance to contact them because its the evening, but am really worried there is some new rule which stated I shouldn't receive this after a certain time?
Whats the deal, is it a mistake?

Hi, the benefits should have also sent you an explanation of the breakdown of your benefits. They also say if you don't agree, please contact them. Have to agree with Robbydabanca, phone the benefits office when it opens. They may have made a mistake or made some assumptions that aren't true. Good luck, I'm sure you'll get it sorted. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. It's possible that the 'exemption' was actually a payment of discretionary housing benefit which needs to be reapplied for yearly. That's pure speculation on my part though - does it say anything on your letters about it?
I agree with the other posters though, the easiest way for you to get an answer is to call HB in the morning.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Do you fall under this category?

If for some reason they do not grant this or you do not fit into this category then you should apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment to top up your rent until your tenancy ends and you can find shared accommodation.
Do you receive DLA or PIP and if so at what rates?0 -
My tenancy is rolling and can end whenever I ask to to with my private landlord.
I fall under the category that was homeless and stayed for over three months in a homeless hostel, which i have for the previous year been having. I wanted to know if there is a maximum extent to this? I would assume i would be told.0 -
Your attitude really isn't very nice.....Robbydabanca wrote: »Can we not start opening this with twenty questions? what if, do you get...yadda yadda yadda. Phone city housing. End of.0 -

Yet on another thread, you demanded more information, even though it was not relevant, nor was it any of your business. Please don't be so rude.0 -
Robbydabanca, you're a troll who adds nothing to the threads you post on. Most of your advice is spectacularly pointless. You're specialist subject seems to be the bleedin' obvious.

The exemption should continue until you are 35 years old. Are you still under 35?0

That's relieving. I called today and the lady apologised that there had been a mistake on the system and that I was entitled!
Thanks for everyone's help0 -
"Robbydabanca" attitude has always stank on here.
