Car Insurance Cancellation Obfuscation

Here is my problem:
In January, I renewed my car insurance with GoSkippy. But, a few weeks later, I replaced my car, and asked GoSkippy to quote for the new vehicle, as I would prefer to have stayed with them to avoid cancellation fees. But, they wanted £600 more than my existing car insurance, and I had far better quotes elsewhere. So, I asked how much cancellation would be, and was told it would be £75, plus "some other charges", but they were unable to say how much the final bill would be. Nonetheless, I moved to another insurance company, and GoSkippy sent me a final invoice. And here my concern begins....

The final bill was for £187.41. I accept that they have a right to add additional admin fees, etc, but I also think I have a right to be fully informed of how the final bill is calculated. I have contacted them via the "Resolver" tool on this website, and they have responded quickly with a copy of a "breakdown" which states that the cancellation fee is £75 and that the final amount due is £187.41, still with no indication of how the final amount is calculated. So, I have contacted them again, and I await another reply.

I don't think I am being difficult here. How can they produce a demand for payment without explaining the charges?

Has anyone else found themselves in the same situation? Has anyone challenged this before?

Surely cancelling my car insurance does not provide the insurer with freedom to apply any charges they like? How do we challenge unreasonable charges?

You say "the final bill" - do I presume you're paying monthly? So there's not just the insurance, but the finance product that you've "borrowed" the full annual premium from, and are repaying monthly over the year.

What do the Ts & Cs (which you agreed to, by not cancelling within 14 days of receipt) say about cancellation and fees?
