Be warned guys - before you go signing up to this you must read terms and conditions, don't end up like me please. If you sign up with them, you fully consent to receiving spam marketing messages from them, and there is no way to opt out of it unless you text a number that will charge you to send it. Don't sign up with them please unless you are okay with that. Also customer service from what I've read is horrific to get through. Take care when joining gambling sites, read every line, don't get scammed.
I don't know if receiving the text messages to your phone will cost you, there seems to be no answers anywhere if they charge you for it, so please be careful of that as well.
Stay safe

Thank you for the warning. If I recall correctly, I received one text message which gave me the option of texting back with the message 'STOP', which I did. I've not come across any cost for that but it was sent as a standard text message. I've not received any further texts. I was also able to unsubscribe from their emails using the unsubscribe link, although there was a slight delay.Be warned guys - before you go signing up to this you must read terms and conditions, don't end up like me please. The number you text "TEXTEND" is charged but with the five number message code they give you in the marketing message. Sadly they can get away with it by hiding it in such a way that you don't see it straight away, it took me a good while through looking in the terms and conditions to also see they sell your info to third parties, so if you get a bunch of spam then that's why. I just don't want someone to end up you know, placing bets and then having problems because of that, it's sucky that a company can just use you like that. But that's just how it works nowadays.:rotfl: :money: I accidentally swallowed some food dye the other night, after rushing to the hospital the doctor told me that I had nothing to worry about, but I felt like I dyed a little inside :rotfl: :money:0

Yes just look back through my history and I sent TEXTEND at the end of January, unfortunately I don't get itemised billing. No obvious spam problem so far. Perhaps someone else that's opted out of texts can confirm the cost?
I've only been able to look through the t&c's briefly but there is no mention of selling information to third parties, just the standard limited use of third party providers to provide services and options to opt out of their own marketing by unsubscribing as is required by law. Please provide a link (you won't be able to post an active link but pointers in the right direction should be possible) or at least copy and paste the relevant passage.0 -
I was wary of texting the number but I did send an email to support@betway.com a week after I was getting bombarded with text messages and politely said I don't mind staying on the email list but I'm not happy with receiving daily text messages and if they could remove me from their SMS list. It took a day or 2 to get a reply but they replied and said it was done. Haven't had a message since.0

Before I text the number to stop their constant texts, my phone contract comes with an add on to warn me before I text numbers and it tell you if it'll cost you money which it did, so like any person would do, I sent Betway a polite email and deleted my entire account off there, because let's face it, nobody wants to be bombarded with text messages both from Betway, and their marketing affiliates. (The people they sell your info to)
It's either in the privacy policy or the general terms and conditions and it will say something along the lines of by signing up with your phone number you agree to receive marketing texts from Betway and it's affiliates. Meaning they send off your information to other companies to message you with what they think you would like the most, using third party companies. That's what I mean ThisOne:rotfl: :money: I accidentally swallowed some food dye the other night, after rushing to the hospital the doctor told me that I had nothing to worry about, but I felt like I dyed a little inside :rotfl: :money:0 -
Also Biz, they do remove you, but the sheer fact you can't choose to opt out straight away screeches red flags everywhere. Also it's a pain to remove your account, you should just be able to close your account using a deactivate button and not have to go through emailing support who will then take you through more processes before your account is deleted.
I just think it's a dodgy company, but unfortunately most gambling sites are nowerdays. It's good you stopped getting text messages, I stopped receiving them after confirming my account was fully permanently deleted off their systems. There should be a law against making you receive spam messages, especially to your phone number.:rotfl: :money: I accidentally swallowed some food dye the other night, after rushing to the hospital the doctor told me that I had nothing to worry about, but I felt like I dyed a little inside :rotfl: :money:0 -
Without a doubt they are a pushy company, and they are a gambling company, neither of which makes them easy to trust. It was definitely unwise of me to reply to the text without knowing the cost, slight brain failure on my part. BizKiTRoAcH's approach would have been more sensible.0
