Credit Ladder is no longer needed now Experian have the Rental Exchange

Is this actually beneficial? was recently speaking to my landlord regarding this.
  • Meh.
It just shows you pay rent on time and it’s another entry on your credit file.

Whether a lender looks and cares about it is another matter altogether.

    Hi Eddy2009,

My name is Asa and I am the Operations Director at CreditLadder. I can confirm that no one is trying to "hack" your account this is our partner TrueLayer who are FCA regulated for account reading performing rent reading and checking for new transactions.

Additionally, TrueLayer do not store your bank details as explained in our help centre. These are securely encrypted and tokenised then used to help read the rent and build your credit history.

If you have any security concern please contact me directly on asa@creditladder.co.uk and I can help answer any questions. We take security very seriously and I want to alleviate any concerns.

    Thank you,
    Asa

If not then you shouldn’t be posting as a representative on behalf of a company.

  • There is no definitive way of knowing if they care though? Their lending criteria are like their secrete sauce recipe?

    Who?
Of course lending criteria is “secret” otherwise the system could be easily cheated and manipulated.

I have a couple of quick question. I’ve been using Credit Ladder for a fair few months now:

    1. What does it show as on my credit report? Where should I be looking to see if it’s even reporting?

    2. Does the amount of rent paid make any difference to your credit report/score? I’m temporarily paying a bit more rent while my partner is out of work. Is it worth me reporting that to them or just leave it? (Btw, I know there’s no guarantee that it makes any difference but if it DOES then WOULD the amount matter?)

(Ooh.. while I’m here.. side question: What impact does reporting “living with partner” have?)

Ok, thanks. I have updated it now.. But my actual question was about what difference the rent amount makes. Does a higher rent show more reliability or is it literally just the fact that you pay on time that is being recorded?
  • Ignore the response above - it’s not a verified company representative.

Late and on time payments are reported. That’s all.
