Am I entitled?

I’m 19 years old, living in a flat (private rented) above a shop, iv been suffering from a desintergrated disk for 5 years. Which causes a lot of back pain, leg pain and some unusual neck pain. I’m struggling with the staires that lead up to my flat which causes me not to be able to go out and socialise because of not been able to get up and down majority of the time.so really my question is can the council help me to get better suitable accommodation for me? I have proof of all diagnosed issues with my situation, scans and so on. Iv always struggled with staires since I was 14. So would it be possible to get help from the council or would I have to help myself find a place? (Posted in this because I was told to)

Are you working? Do you receive PIP?

Unfortunately you may well find that the council will not be able to help - much better I would have thought if you look for a ground floor flat or studio.

You can certainly try but i highly doubt they would. Was there any reason why you took the flat when you knew you had problems? Do you claim DLA/PIP?

I'd say it depends largely where you live, and where you're prepared to live.

Some areas of the country you've no chance, in some areas if you're prepared to live in a very rough area then you might be lucky. As others have said, being on DLA or PIP will help.

It won't be a fast solution though. Even with the highest band of priority it took a year for me to be offered my current flat, which is an ex crack den in a very bad area.

There's no harm in applying to go on the housing list though, and if it's a choice based letting system applying for as many suitable places as you can each week. Realistically, looking for a more suitable private let will be a lot quicker.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I want more information about the health condition. This will stop people posting for the sake of it.

    What??
Just because you want more information doesn't mean people have to give it, and people are free to post what they want. You're not the forum police.

OP, single person local authority flats are like gold dust. Those on the ground floor even more so.
You can request to go on the council list. If you're asking for ground floor then you will need medical evidence to give you a higher priority. And even with priority in some areas you could still be waiting years. You may be quicker looking for a more suitable private rental. Such as somewhere with a lift. The need to socialise (taking you at face value) would not count as a priority need.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Hello? Are you a visitor to benefit area? This is where you come for help but every other poster (with a history of 1 post) asks. Why have you singled me out?

Probably because your posts come across as very aggressive! You can't demand what information the OP has to give you.

Sorry but that sounds rather rude. You can't have more info if the OP chooses not to give it.

OP. Put applications in to all Housing Associations that you know of. You may need help with this so go to go to any Disability advice centres for any support needed..

You say you have medical proof of your condition, so put in an application for PIP.

Not being able to get out when you wish is, of course, socially isolating and can lead to severe MH issues. If you have any symptoms; of MH issues please go to your GP and explain how you are feeling and why.

You are only 19 years old and should have a better quality of life. You need to be pro-active and seek support from those who can help you to secure the correct accommodation for your needs.

I wish you all the best.

I want more information about the health condition. This will stop people posting for the sake of it.

When I was growing up, I was told 'I want doesn't get' - and the OP has already given sufficient details to say why she would like to request help with housing, plus she has stated that she has medical proof. You don't need to know anything specific about her health conditions to be able to answer. You might note that others have been able to offer advice without knowing any more than you do.

May I also point out that many of us have been here for a long time, and are willing to help others in a polite and respectful manner. You, however, come across as aggressive and rude. Please note that this site is supposed to be friendly, and that includes you. We are asked to be nice to new posters. However, it is a two way street, and new posters should behave politely too.
