How to know if Gumtree seller is legit?

Looking to buy some darts tickets off Gumtree as they are sold out and the guy has a few tables, obviously a ticket merchant which I don't have a problem with paying the extra price - however I just want to make sure he's legit it says he's been posting for 8 years but apart from that there isn't much other info, his ad also says

"Proof of tickets can be provided before purchase is made.

Payment accepted by bank transfer of Paypal for buyers security.

Buy with confidence from an established ticket reseller with long Gumtree history.

These tickets are also listed on Getmein and Stubhub so you can check they are legit.

Only difference from buying directly here is avoiding their fees.

Tickets will be dispatched by special delivery as soon as they are received from the promoter.

I will forward you the ticket confirmation immediately upon receipt of payment.

Thanks for looking - any further questions feel free to ask."

Just wondering what to do :/

I'm assuming the bit about bank transfer of paypal is a typo? If seller allows a proper paypal payment made for named goods then you have coverage, but that does assume the tickets are eligible for re sale and many are not.

Other than that there is no way to really be 100% about any stranger on Gumtree, but if you do go ahead obviously only use paypal (not friends or family) or a credit card, do not fall for any 'discount for bank transfer' nonsense.

Personally, I’d prefer to pay the extra and get them via stubhub, at least then you have peace of mind.
