Applying for uni with a HNC

My daughter (21) has had an apprenticeship for the last 2 years and has been studying a hnc in applied chemistry which she is soon to finish. In September she has applied to go to uni to study diet and nutrition and she has been led to believe that she will have to fund the first year of the course herself as she will have a hnc? Is this correct ?

I believe that in general funding is available for the length of the course + 1 year. If her degree is 3 years, that means 4 years of funding, but if she's already had 2 funded years to study for the HNC that means only 2 years of the degree course will be funded.0

I had to fund my own degree, having had a grant for my Cert Ed,11 years previously.
I earned my degree with the OU so I could raise two children and work full time to cover the fees. (As I had a Cert Ed and appropriate A levels I was excused some of the credits needed for the basic degree, but not the honours.)0
