  • Thanks all for the helpful advice thus far.

I've sent the appeal as detailed in the FAQs, and added my own relevant information (without naming driver) so we'll see how it goes.

One thing, I'm struggling to find the section of the FAQ's that is being referred to that details the futility of challenging a IPC operator, and what to expect once the appeal has been sent - now that I'm prepared to lose the appeal, and want to prepare for the next stage of the process.

The futility issue is covered in the initial Q's and As in #1 of the FAQ

After appealing to an IPC company you are in the wait and see/debt collectors stage.

All explained in the Newbies FAQ thread

Post #3 of thre NEWBIES thread tells you about not doing the IAS, and why not.

Then post #4 of the NEWBIES thread talks about ignoring the debt collector letters.

And if you get a claim or a LBCCC (HX use Gladstones, so read a load of Gladstones threads) you will know from post #2 of the NEWBIES thread, and from all your reading of Gladstones threads in the meantime, how to defend.
what I want to know is why is it possible to get a ticket out without doing that,
So would a Judge. It is patently unfair and can be argued to be a variation of the contract - i.e. the machine offered a ticket for your money, no VRN input, therefore that was the agreed contract concluded and you displayed the ticket, and had kept your side of the bargain. You did nothing wrong.

Keep that ticket that proves payment was made, and we mean keep it for 6 years. It will NOT be something that the IAS would fairly consider, IMHO, but the above IS something that a Judge would.
I would have thought if I put something to which the have clear evidence of the contrary
What (not just 'some signs up') but clear signs with the £ parking charge in LARGE LETTERING?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
