Sniffer dogs will detect them and you would be in Deep Poo I imagine, It is a explosive so you may well get in bigger trouble that you ever imagined.

I have never taken them but my brother does every year at Xmas and has always got away with it. I think he is stupid as it is one of the listed items NOT to be taken in luggage.

I took some last year, they asked if anything like cans deodorent ect in bag which could go off, and I mentioned it. They said it was fine.
I had them in my main luggage, not the carry on bag.

Then again it could have been the year before, or the year before that!!:o
They might have tightened up security since then!

  • I went to America when my mother died. There was a sign which said you could not take Christmas crackers in your luggage, so I ended up handing them to the luggage people. I was furious because Americans don't have them, but couldn't do anything.

I presume it would be OK if you pulled the thin explosive strip out of each cracker (which is really easy). I know it's not the same, but you still have the cracker to pull at Christmas, the toy, and more importantly the hats and the bad joke!

I'm not sure if this is a really good idea or a really bad one.....

I would of though if you were allowed to carry Xmas crackers they would have to be boxed and unopened so taking the strip out would not be a good idea.

But if you take out the strip, there is nothing in them that is not allowed through customs? Unless they have rule on appalling jokes?

I'm guessing?! Or would some pedantic customs officer still take them off you?
