Double Glazing Repairs

Options
Can't beleive it;s happened during 2018 though I've been hear since 2009
Any MSER's could maybe guess cost if I want a local tradesperson to repair living room and bedroom double glazed windows which have been soacking wet past few weeks inside.
Is it hundreds per window-I've stopped short of getting quotes as I want to make sure I can afford whatever the costs.

Trickle vents , normally small flap at the top of the window

It's not cheap to replace as I'm assuming you mean moisture inside the glazed units , not on the inside of the window.

What floor flat ? may need scaffolding to reach if not accessible from inside the flat .

It sounds like a ventilation problem then , no air vents .

Try leaving window slightly open at night if possible

Do you dry wet clothes on an airer ? Does your bathroom have an extractor fan and is it working , same in kitchen ?

My bathroom ventilator has stopped working past few months or weeks as I've just painted bathroom ceiling as was small black spots which I had to wipe off before painting.
Kitchen does have a electric vent though not used as switch is unreachable.
No wet clothes I use washer dryer
If I leave living room+kitchen windows open tonight-could that help?
Loads of cloud recently and sometimes raining as recently as today.

There are moisture beads built into double glazing and they can fail over time giving the steam look. I've a few windows like this, if it's just a small pane and your windows are internally beaded then you can get glass quite cheaply online (or find a local place).

If its large panes, or externally beaded (so you'd need scaffolding) then likely not cost effective to just replace glass. I have a large lounge window that needed doing - 2.4 meters wide by 1.3 meters high. Just glass was around £250, I got a whole new window for just over £300 (fitting myself). Fitting was another £300 on top.

I had lots of companies out, they really didn't like quoting to replace the glass only and this was reflected in the pricing. I even tried companies advertising as fixing 'steamed' windows.

Thinking about it, even if your windows are internally beaded someone would still need to be outside to fit the seal, unless someone clever knows a way around that!

There is a franchise(?) company out there called Cloudy2Clear who replace failed sealed units. My opinion is they deliberately sell dross knowing the their sealed units have a short life. For a quick fix solution you can give them a try.

My recollection is they have the ear of Which? magazine who sing their praises. This remains a mystery to me. Is my judgement bad? I do not think so. Would any savvy consumer, thinking eco, sustainable, recycling and so on be content with a five year guarantee offered by Cloudy2Clear? Of course they would not. Yet the franchises thrive.

Whilst I am a supporter of Which? it does show the flaws in any consumer type feedback and recommendations!

Just my humble opinion, so give Cloudy2Clear a call.
