I have a large collection of postcards of the houses of famous people during the 20th century, which I have decided I should like to build into a website. I have a scanner. I need a very simple web site builder which I can use to create a gallery of my cards.
Ideally I suppose it would have a search function so visitors could look up and search on the cards by house name/ famous person name,/location info. Also a blog by me.
I want a simple web builder with suitable template and search functions. All the ones I can find seem to assume I am a professional selling goods or services. And their temp!ates are geared to this. I am not selling anything. Just documenting my collection. Can anyone recommend anything. ?

Plenty of carsousel software out there, that is what i use for our family photo collection.
Just copy and paste the code or file and add your photo filenames to the list.
Some have a little logo at the foot of the page, coded by (name). But plenty of free ones with no watermarks etc.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I have always used Unlimited Web Hosting with Cpanel and installed Wordpress on to it. it costs me 2.99 a month all in which includes FREE .uk or .co.uk Domain Plesk or cPanel CloudLinux Security and MagicSpam Protection.
From there you add plugins to your Wordpress site, there are thousands of free plugins including galleries to showcase your postcards. I love Foo Gallery with Foobox (Image lightbox); all free with straight forward settings.
If you're completely alien to installing Wordpress and adding plugins etc, I'm self-taught and would be only too happy to help you or anyone else wanting to build their own Wordpress site/blog. I can also help with graphics, headers and logos0
