O/S Daily Sunday 25th March 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH in the bath, I've just showered and had quick porridge breakfast, DS1 drinking tea and DS2 eating cornflakes and drinking tea. Plans have changed a bit as I was going to cook full english early then we were going to visit DH's grandad, but we all laid late (not helped by the 1 hour clock forward) so we're having quick breakfast of toast/cereal then I'll cook the full english when we get back.

Dinner last night was pizza, breaded chicken portions, salad, chips/jacket potato.

Cloudy but damp underfoot here this morning, we didn't get the rain we were supposed to get yesterday daytime, until well into the afternoon, so missed a line drying opportunity as forecast was bad so didn't peg out.

Picked up my new to me car, pleased with it so far, both set of parents approve. My dad was very impressed how clean and tidy it is, hoping I'll have as good as experience with this one as I did with my last car.

We'll just be chilling later - getting ready for the week ahead.

Work was ok yesterday busier than we thought.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning, the sun is shining and my washing is nearly ready to go out.

OH is having a lie in, DS went to bed as I got up at 4, 5 now that the clocks have gone forward so we shan't see him until later.

Sunday dinner this evening will be roast chicken and all that jazz.

I keep checking my cupboard, not a mini beast in sight so far, am hoping that I got the lot.

Hope everyone has a good day and that things are easier for Holly.

    Good morning everyone.

Congratulations on the new-to-you car nmlc, I wish you health to drive it.

Watery blue sky outside and it’s been raining overnight. Looks like the bad weather is coming back if the forecasts are to be believed. My family in QLD are battening down for a cyclone which is due to hit, not sure I’d want one of those.

    Lazy Sunday ahead. :)

    Happy Sunday to everyone.

Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs to all those in need.
I think I've missed a few days, I still have a swollen ankle, ibuprofen helps but false causes constipation, oh the joys!
We are out of the marina so I need to be able to walk along the towpath to work the locks and swing bridges.
We are at Thatcham but moving on in a few minutes, I'm not sure where we will moor next.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Good morning everyone, bright and sunny here, some washing ready to go out so better get a shift on. I want to do some baking and also perhaps some garden tidying, OH informs me it could get up to 11 degrees this afternoon if we are lucky.

I haven't been popping my head around the door here for a few days, rather run out of spoons, but for once not in a bad way. An increase in energy has meant that I have been getting more things done, then have been too weary/idle to post/catch up on e-mails etc.

Thinking of Holly, nmlc thanks for the new thread pleased you are happy with your new wheels, hugs and spoons to all that need them.

Early start tomorrow have to go for a bone scan at hospital 50 miles away, but we will make a day of it, have lunch out and perhaps have a mooch around Llangollen:D

I've been awake since 6.30 - having trouble sleeping the last couple of nights since having troubling news about DD's health. Nothing life threatening but potentially life changing for her.

I had a lovely week last week being thoroughly spoiled by DH and the children, it really was a magical experience and I've got a couple of outings to look forward to - the Harry Potter experience and a trip to Bath so birthday celebrations will continue.

I hope we have better news of Holly today. I'm off to watch the rerun of the Grand Prix.

    Morning

Beautiful sunny day here shame there is no washing to hang out :D

Little bit of a lie in this morning so should be full of energy but the lazy mode seems to be continuing :o need to nip out at some point and get a dressing for a burn. I managed to catch my arm on the top of oven getting something out. Didnt think it was much so left it open to heal. This morning the skin had broken and it looks pretty nasty inside (sorry TMI) Anyway a plaster will be no good as it will stick on the open bit  so need a proper dressing. Note to self need a first aid kit as I got rid of mine it being about 20 years old.

Food today will be eggs for brunch then some turkey veg and pots for dinner

Had some news from Holly she is having a tough time on the ward and its not helped by there being only 3 nurses to look after 17 patients. Her brother has been to see her once but they go away for 2 weeks over easter so it will be a while before she will get a visit now :( She starts the new meds on Tuesday (thankfully) so the doc has said it will be 3-6 weeks before she can get home.

Ive sent another couple of books as she is reading lots but it seems nothing really. if anyone has any other ideas let me know. I am so sad for her and feel how down she is through her messages. Helpless is the best way I can describe how I feel and its frustrating. Anyway she says to say hi to everyone and she cant wait to be back posting.

Right best get on I guess have a good day all :A

    Good Morning All

The sun is shining at the moment but there have been a few showers. Yesterday was glorious but as I was going out I didn't put the washing out, it's out this morning so fingers crossed.

Friend's washing machine isn't spinning so they are over here every 20 mins to use my machine, had to have a word that they were over filling it. At least I'm here today to keep an eye, they let themselves in yesterday.

We had a lovely afternoon yesterday, the afternoon tea was ok, nothing special but the building is beautiful, we then went for a couple of drinks. Went for the train home and they were all delayed. Eventually got on one that went a couple of stops before a fight broke out (football related). It was in my carriage and the main fighter came and sat next to me - I pretended there was something interesting to read on my phone! We had to wait for the police, when they eventually arrived the train was cancelled and we all had to get off. Got a train a little nearer then my train that didn't stop until the end of the line. Had to get a taxi back again, by this time I was desperate for the loo!! Anyway, 3 hours to get back from Glasgow is some sort of record, usually only takes 50 mins.

Hoping today will be calmer, DD and BF are due to fly on the seaplane today, it's been cancelled 6 times already due to bad weather so hoping the sun continues to shine. I think they are coming here for lunch after.

    Enjoy your new car nmlc.
Glad your DM is ok Gers.
Hope your ankle heals quickly HH.

    Take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A glorious start here with blue sky and sunshine and feels quite warm (in the sun at least) so I should feel full of the joys of Spring but I don't. A rubbish night's sleep and feeling washed out already.

Yesterday's trip to the different hospital north of Leeds turned into a bit of a debacle despite my meticulous planning of train and bus timetables. I didn't know there was an anti Brexit rally planned for Leeds and all traffic and buses in the centre were detoured due to the many thousands of people marching. A good job we had allowed plenty of time - just in case something went wrong.

The appointment confirmed YET ANOTHER health problem for Mr TA. Fortunately this time not life threatening/changing like his other illnesses but he needs a small op to treat it. They say as a day case which will be in about 8 weeks time, thanks to waiting lists.

We met up with DD and co as planned later but thanks to the rally the pubs/bars/restaurants were all packed. We found a haven of peace in the Radisson bar but paid dearly with the price of drinks there! Couldn't get in at Zizzi and ended up in Frankie and Benny's. This pleased the kids but not us! But by then we were all getting beyond hungry so we all cleared our plates and made room for puds. Got home at 9.30 (on a packed train) and fell straight into bed. It had been a long and tiring day.

Lazy day if I am lucky today. Lunch is prepped and waiting to go in the oven (chicken & leek au gratin) with baby pots and veg. Then maybe a feet up afternoon with my book.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for those in need. Poor HOLLY my heart really does go out to her and I wish there was something we could all do to help her. One slight hope is that the new meds help her. MADDIEMAY I hope tomorrow goes as well as it can. Take care all xx

Good to get news, even if it's slightly iffy - you're doing a grand job there!

The seaplane goes over my home - if I see it I'll wave. I'll probably be in the back garden so will only hear it but will run through to the front of the house!

Good morning all! Hope everyone is doing okay!

It's nearly easter holidays for our schools here. I finish on Wednesday, but some go until Thursday with a teacher training day. We dodged that one by doing 2 after-school training sessions instead!

Last night I went out to a friends 10th wedding anniversary party. Never especially heard of people having them, but fair enough! We did a barn dance, with a fish and chip supper. It was nice, and although I didn't know many there, I found a friendly group to sit with. :) Got home just before midnight. Then what with the clock change, I ended up getting up about 9:30, but could have done with a longer sleep! Having a PJ day today!
