Hi all
The wooden handrail on my staircase was treated with Danish Oil at least 10 years ago.
I haven't reapplied any since then and am looking to freshen it up.
Is there anything specific I should use to clean the handrail before applying more oil?
Thanks for any advice.

A good wash with dilute biological washing powder and water, or sugar soap, to remove some of the greasy hand marks. If you like that as patina, just to straight ahead with the oil.0

Edit (rather late) to add: don't leave the rail wet, rub it west, rub it clean and dry. When dry, rub it well with a dry cloth (smooth grain) and only then oil it a little. Rub plenty.
It's the rubbing wot duz it!0
