Overnight Parking - Car Insurance

Hi there,

I'm looking for a bit of clarification.

My girlfriend and I live in a block of flats which has a secure underground car park, where we have one space allocated to the property. We alternate the use of this this between the two of us who gets to park there on a daily basis (basically, whoever gets home last from work gets use of the space, the other person has to park in visitor parking bays out front of the property).

We have both declared to our insurers that we park in a garage overnight, as we were lead to believe it is where you "normally" park.

My insurer has clarified that this is correct as it is 50/50 on the street and in the garage, however my girlfriends insurer has said she must change it to being parked on the street otherwise her insurance is invalidated.

Does anyone have any thoughts/comments/suggestions on this? All appreciated!

Cheers,

RossBaku

Doubt it will be too much of a disadvantage her complying. Parking overnight in the street is often cheaper than in a garage

If they void/cancel her policy then that will be to her disadvantage big time!
